CanadaWatch online live stream CPAC
CPAC, the Cable Public Affairs Channel, is Canada's bilingual public affairs broadcaster, offering what it calls a neutral window on politics from Ottawa. Created in 1992 by a consortium of Canadian cable companies, it carries the work of Parliament without commentary, and its proceedings are followed on cable and by viewers who watch TV online.
The channel exists in two languages at once: English and French versions run in parallel, with simultaneous interpretation of everything from the floor of the House of Commons. When Parliament is not sitting, the grid fills with committee hearings, press conferences from the National Press Theatre, election coverage and leadership conventions.
Question Period and prime-time politics
The daily Question Period from the House of Commons remains the channel's most-watched hour, carried live whenever Parliament sits. In the evening, the nightly programme PrimeTime Politics, anchored by Michael Serapio, sums up the day on the Hill with interviews and analysis. Senate sittings, ministerial announcements and special events such as royal commissions round out the live television offer.
Democracy without a paywall
CPAC streams free of charge on its official website and publishes hearings and interviews on its YouTube channel, so the live streaming signal reaches Canadians on any device and observers of Canadian politics abroad.
