ChinaWatch online live stream CCTV-12
CCTV-12 - the Society and Law Channel - is the legal-affairs service of China Central Television, the state broadcaster of the People's Republic of China. Broadcasting in Mandarin from Beijing, it explains the law to the country's largest audience, at home and among viewers who watch TV online.
The frequency went on air in 2002 as CCTV's Western Channel, serving China's regional development campaign with programmes for the inland provinces from Shaanxi to Xinjiang. In December 2004 it was relaunched in its present role, as legal literacy became a national priority: court reporting, public-order journalism and civic education built around real cases.
The law, case by case
The grid is built on documentary reportage: Frontline (Yixian) follows police investigations, Sky Net (Tianwang) reconstructs major criminal cases, and Legal Lecture Hall (Falv Jiangtang) brings jurists to explain the statutes behind the headlines. Moral Observation and the Psychological Interview formats address the social questions behind the news, keeping live television close to everyday disputes.
Legal China, everywhere
The official page tv.cctv.com/live/cctv12 streams the channel in high definition, and the CCTV YouTube channel publishes programme highlights, so the live streaming audience follows Chinese legal affairs from anywhere in the world.
