Rik Sat is the international satellite channel of the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation - RIK, the public broadcaster of Cyprus. Aimed at the Cypriot diaspora around the world, it rebroadcasts the best of the domestic RIK 1 and RIK 2 channels, keeping Greeks of Cyprus connected with home wherever they watch TV online.
RIK was founded in 1953 as Cyprus's public radio service and began television broadcasting in October 1957, becoming the island's first television voice. The satellite service followed in 1990, beaming Cypriot programming to Europe, the Middle East and beyond, so that emigrant communities could follow the island's daily life.
The island's window abroad
The grid follows the RIK rhythm: Greek-language news editions in the afternoon and at 6 and 8 pm, the long midday live show with conversation, music and guests, and the public broadcaster's drama series, documentaries and cultural magazines. Sunday liturgy from the island's Orthodox churches, national-day parades and great state events are carried live, keeping live television close to the Cypriot calendar.
From Nicosia to the world
The tv.rik.cy live page carries Rik Sat around the clock in high definition, and the RIK YouTube channel publishes news editions and programmes daily, so the live streaming signal reaches Cypriot families in London, Athens, Melbourne and New York.
