EWTN, the Eternal Word Television Network, is the world's largest Catholic media organisation, broadcasting from Irondale, Alabama. Founded by Mother Angelica in 1981, it has grown from a makeshift garage studio into a global service followed by viewers who watch live TV on every inhabited continent.

Mother Angelica, a Poor Clare nun with no background in broadcasting, launched the network on 15 August 1981 with a handful of staff and borrowed equipment. Decades after her final live program, the network she built keeps expanding: its channels and feeds now reach hundreds of millions of homes in several languages, carried by cable, satellite and streaming platforms.

Prayer, News and Teaching Around the Clock

The heart of the schedule is the daily broadcast of the Holy Mass from the network's own chapel, joined by the Rosary, the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and other devotions. Between the prayer blocks come documentaries, films on the lives of the saints, children's shows and coverage of papal events from the Vatican, making the service a steady companion for live television viewers of faith.

Signature Programs and Familiar Faces

Weekday evenings belong to EWTN News Nightly, which reports on world events from a Catholic perspective, while The World Over with Raymond Arroyo mixes interviews, analysis and humour. EWTN Live, hosted by Father Mitch Pacwa, takes viewer calls on theology and Scripture, and reruns of Mother Angelica Live Classics keep the foundress's wit and wisdom on the air.

EWTN live streaming opens the chapel doors to anyone with an internet connection, from commuters praying the Rosary on the train to families watching Easter Mass from Rome. Wherever the audience may be, the signal carries the same mission announced at launch: to bring the Eternal Word into every home.
