NonStop Local KHQ is the NBC affiliate for Spokane and the Inland Northwest, the flagship of the Cowles Company's group of stations that adopted the NonStop Local brand in 2024. Licensed as KHQ on channel 6, the station has broadcast from Spokane since 1952, and viewers across eastern Washington can watch live TV through its streaming apps and website.

Cowles, which also publishes The Spokesman-Review, has owned the station since its sign-on, making KHQ one of the few remaining family-owned network affiliates of its size. The NonStop Local rebrand unified KHQ with sister stations in Yakima, the Tri-Cities and other Northwest markets under one news identity.

NonStop Local for the Inland Northwest

Newscasts run from a long morning block through evening and late editions, covering Spokane city government, North Idaho communities and the agricultural counties of the Palouse. Wildfire season and winter storms drive the region's most urgent coverage, and live television access on phones and smart TVs keeps alerts close when conditions turn.

News Blocks Built for Spokane

The newsroom leans on shared reporting across the NonStop Local network, so a story breaking in Missoula or the Tri-Cities reaches Spokane viewers the same day. Sports coverage follows Gonzaga Bulldogs basketball - a national power based downtown - plus Washington State football and high school rivalries across the region.

A NonStop Local KHQ live stream carries newscasts through the station's site and apps, with breaking news pushed to phones around the clock. More than seventy years after sign-on, Channel 6 remains Spokane's evening habit.
