BRT-2 is the second channel of Bayrak Radio Television, the state broadcaster of Northern Cyprus - the home of sport, culture and the arts on Turkish Cypriot TV, also streamed around the world via online TV.
Bayrak began life as a clandestine radio station in December 1963, broadcasting right through the intercommunal conflict, and added television in 1976. Today the broadcaster, known by its initials BRT, operates several TV and radio services from its Nicosia studios, with BRT-2 carrying the cultural and sporting flank of the daily schedule.
Sport, Culture and the Arts
Where the flagship BRT-1 leads with news and current affairs, BRT-2 leans into football and basketball coverage, concert relays, folk music programming and documentary strands about the island's Cypriot heritage. Big domestic matches, folk festivals and national holiday celebrations go out as live television on the channel.
Bayrak's Long Story
From a hidden radio transmitter in 1963 to digital multi-channel broadcasting in HD, Bayrak has chronicled Turkish Cypriot daily life for six decades. BRT-2 extends that mission with subtitled classics, archive concerts and dedicated programming for the diaspora in Turkey and Britain.
A BRT-2 live stream connects viewers everywhere to the sport, music and culture of Northern Cyprus, free of charge, day and night.
