Extra TV: El Canal del Pueblo of Costa Rica
Extra TV is Canal 42 of Costa Rica, the television arm of Grupo Extra, the media house behind the Diario Extra newspaper. Broadcasting from San Jose under the proud name El Canal del Pueblo, the channel of the people, it is the most popular local station in the country, and the Extra TV live stream lets viewers watch TV online free of charge at home and abroad.
The channel lives from the same popular journalism that made Diario Extra the country's best-selling paper: news that speaks the language of ordinary Costa Ricans, covering politics, security, prices and everyday life in the capital and the provinces. Sports coverage follows the national football team, La Sele, and the great clubs Saprissa, Alajuelense and Herediano, while entertainment magazines, music, lifestyle shows and religious programming fill out a schedule made for the whole family. As part of the Grupo Extra multiplatform, Extra TV shares content with the newspaper, radio and digital editions around the clock.
