PCTV Select-1 is one of the channels of Pittsfield Community Television, the public access media center serving Pittsfield, Massachusetts, and the surrounding Berkshire County communities. Funded through cable franchise agreements and run as a nonprofit, PCTV gives local residents, schools and city government a television voice, and its channels also stream for viewers who watch TV online.

Pittsfield is the largest city in the Berkshires, the highland region of western Massachusetts known for its arts institutions and small-town civic life. PCTV has served it for decades from studios in the city, training residents in media production along the way.

Public Access in the Berkshires

The Select-1 schedule carries the civic backbone of the operation: Pittsfield City Council meetings, school committee sessions and municipal hearings, aired gavel to gavel. Around them sits the community programming that defines public access - local talk shows, church services, school events and high school sports, all produced by and for Berkshire County residents.

Council Chambers and Community Voices

Meeting coverage keeps Pittsfield's government visible between election days, while member-produced shows range from cooking and faith programs to local music and arts coverage. The station's studios double as a classroom, teaching video production to volunteers of all ages.

A PCTV live stream runs through the station's online portal, with meeting archives available on demand. For Pittsfield, it remains the most local television there is.
