Mega TV is a Chilean free-to-air television channel broadcasting nationwide from Santiago. Known on air simply as Mega, it ranks among the country's most watched networks, mixing news, telenovelas and entertainment for viewers who like to watch TV online as easily as over the air.
The station first went on air on October 23, 1990 under the name Megavision, founded by businessman Ricardo Claro, and adopted its current brand in 2001. Today it is operated by Megamedia, part of the Bethia group, which also runs the sister signals Mega 2, Meganoticias and Megatiempo as well as the Mega Go streaming platform.
A Grid Built Around Chilean Daily Life
Mornings open with conversation, cooking and celebrity interviews, while midday and prime-time hours lean on home-grown drama, game shows and comedy. The daily lineup keeps news at its core, with bulletins at breakfast, lunchtime and in the evening, and weekends bring film screenings and special broadcasts that turn live television into a shared national habit.
Signature Programs and Familiar Faces
Journalism is anchored by Meganoticias and its flagship evening edition Meganoticias Prime, which follow Chilean and world events with reports from across the country. The breakfast show Mucho Gusto has spent years as a morning fixture, telenovelas such as Atrapados headline the fiction slate, and late night belongs to El Antidoto hosted by comedian Fabrizio Copano. Mega is also the traditional home of the Festival de Vina del Mar, broadcasting the famous music festival each summer.
From breaking stories to festival nights, Mega TV live streaming keeps the channel within reach far beyond its terrestrial signal, so audiences in Chile and abroad can follow the same broadcast in real time on any screen.
