Rai 2 is the second channel of Rai, Italy's public service broadcaster, a generalist network with a distinctly youthful spirit that millions of Italians choose when they watch TV online. Its identity is built on entertainment, reality formats, imported series and a lighter take on news and sport.

The channel first went on air on 4 November 1961 under the name Secondo Programma, giving Italian viewers an alternative to the flagship network. It became Rete 2 in the mid-1970s and took its current name, Rai 2, in 1982, gradually shaping a reputation as the boldest of the Rai family with experimental comedy, late-night talk and youth-oriented broadcasts.

From Morning Buzz to Late-Night Marathons

The daily grid opens with the irreverent morning show Viva Rai2!, where Rosario Fiorello turns the early hours into a street-side variety spectacle live from a glass studio in Rome. Daytime hours lean on live television with talk, quizzes and children's animation, while evenings belong to prime-time entertainment, reality adventures and double bills of popular American series, including the long-running NCIS franchise.

Reality Hits and Everyday Information

Among the channel's signature productions are Il Collegio, the hit reality that sends teenagers back to a school of the past, and Pechino Express, the adventure race across distant continents. News coverage comes from the TG2 newsroom with editions through the day, and sport finds its place with football highlights and major events shared across the Rai networks.

Over six decades on air, the network has kept reinventing itself without losing its playful tone. Rai 2 live streaming now carries that same mix of humor, drama and daily information beyond the TV set, letting fans follow every premiere and rerun wherever they happen to be.
