A1Plus is an independent Armenian news outlet based in Yerevan, a name that stands for free journalism in the country. Readers and viewers who watch TV online for Armenian news have trusted it for three decades.

The company wrote Armenian broadcasting history as the nation's first private television station, on air from 1991. In April 2002 it was stripped of its broadcast frequency in a tender widely condemned as politically motivated, and in 2008 the European Court of Human Rights ruled that Armenia had violated its rights. Silenced on the airwaves, the newsroom rebuilt itself on the internet and never stopped reporting.

News, Politics and Street-Level Reporting

The daily output is built on news and analysis from Armenia and the wider region: politics, the economy, social affairs and culture, published in Armenian, Russian and English. Interviews with public figures, press conferences and on-the-ground coverage of contested events keep its independent voice part of the national conversation, and online television has become its natural home.

From Video Reports to Live Event Coverage

Without a frequency, the team made video its signature format: video reports from the streets of Yerevan and the regions, documentary pieces and live event coverage of rallies, elections and public gatherings. When the country holds its breath, the cameras are usually already rolling.

A1Plus live streaming of major events and a steady flow of daily reports are available free online, keeping independent Armenian journalism within reach of anyone, anywhere in the world.
