DR3 is the youth channel of DR - Danmarks Radio - the Danish public broadcaster, transmitting from the DR Byen media city in Copenhagen. Aimed at viewers in their teens, twenties and thirties, it is followed on air across Denmark and by young Danes who watch TV online.
The channel launched on 28 January 2013 as part of DR's digital expansion, taking the slot of the former DR HD. Conceived for a generation raised on streaming, it has always blurred the line between broadcast and online, premiering comedy and documentary formats that later moved up to the flagship DR1 and DR2 channels.
Made for the streaming generation
The grid is built on Danish comedy series and stand-up, youth documentaries, music coverage of the Roskilde Festival and international series aimed at young adults. New Danish comedy talent gets its first television home on DR3, and several of the country's best-known comedians started here, and the channel's documentaries follow young Danes through studies, work, love and trouble, keeping live television in touch with the under-forties.
Youth TV online
The dr.dk/drtv portal carries the DR3 live signal for viewers in Denmark, and the DR YouTube channel publishes series trailers, comedy clips and documentary highlights daily, so the live streaming audience follows the channel from anywhere in the world, on phones and smart TVs alike.
